VOLSUN cold shrink tube is an open-ended rubber sleeve, mainly made of rubber elastomer with high-performance physical properties, which has been expanded or pre-stretched at the factory and assembled to a supporting detachable plastic core. Cold shrink tube shrinks when the supporting core is removed during installation and the electrician slides the tube over the cable to be connected, terminated, or discarded, then unwinds the core, causing the tube to collapse or shrink into place.

3M cold shrink technology, invented over 40 years ago, was designed to make cable insulation, termination and disposal as simple as possible. The secret of the shrink technology lies in it, in the form of a plastic coil. After placing the shrink tubing on the end of the connector or cable, pull the inner coil. The insulating tube then shrinks and seals over the cable, applying a constant radial pressure throughout the life of the joint or termination.

The shrink tubing can be installed easily and reliably without the use of tools such as torches or open flames. These tubes are made of extruded EPDM (ethylene-propylene-diene-monomer) or silicone rubber and stretched onto a supporting core.
